Great for a family vacation
Great for a family vacation
We used to come to this camping a lot when our children were (a lot) younger. This time we revisited with the whole family including granddaughter to find out that le pianacce has not lost its charm. Although early in the season, we enjoyed the breathtaking view, friendly staff and we stayed at the new glamping xxl which can accomodate up to 9 persons easily. In all we were very pleased to return to out favourite camping in our favourite country and would highly recommend a trip here for anyone that appreciates "la dolce vita"

Great campsite
Great campsite
This was my first return to a campsite in 25years, reliving the holiday experience of my childhood, now with 3 children 7-1yrs. We had a very enjoyable week. The site is on a steep hill which is beautifully shaded with stunning sunset views from many sites and from the restaurant. Our air conditioned Lucca mobile home, booked with ease directly with the campsite, was spotlessly clean and very comfortable, opening onto a deck with those sunset views. Pool complex with spray park is super for all ages. Shop and restaurant are typical and we made use of both. Surrounding area is beautiful hilltop towns, countless vineyards and a trip to Elba was easy. We didn’t make it to the beach. The kids club was not exactly what we expected. They have a lot on offer, particularly in the evening (8.30-10ish) as well as some unique opportunities (drones) but it was not a case that kids were safely in their care for a set period. Usually a parent stayed too. Mainly populated by Italian and Dutch holiday makers with a handful of English speakers. Happy to recommend this site.

Fantastic campsite
Fantastic campsite
This is genuinely a fantastic campsite and it's hard to find any fault. Where to start?! The pool is fantastic - it was low season but there are loads and loads of sunbeds around 3 pools so I can't imagine them running out even in high season. It was a fabulous sun trap but there was shade too if you needed it. My boys (13 and 11) really enjoyed the wide rubber slide but I'd say generally it's a site perfectly set up for toddlers and primary-school aged children. We didn't use the kids clubs as ours were a bit old but everything is centrally located and they looked to be having lots of fun. We very much appreciated the decent wifi (as did our teenager). The onsite shop was surprisingly good and we ended up doing a lot of our shopping there, although we also made good use of the Conad down the hill (around 10 minutes maximum from the site). For us, the crowing glory was the bar/restaurant. It was open from early morning so we often had a mid-morning coffee overlooking the pool and although we had intended to eat off-site more often, we found ourselves going back to the restaurant again and again as the food was excellent, the prices very reasonable and the service was efficient and friendly. It was hard to top the views anyway! The site itself is incredibly well-located - you are close to a town for shopping/cashpoint etc, you are surrounded by unbelievably pretty countryside and hilltop towns - Castegneto itself is lovely as is Bolgheri - and you also have great beaches. We preferred the nearest one and often enjoyed an early evening wander and an aperitif as we liked to stay by the pool during the day. We booked our accommodation directly with the site and although we stayed in a brick bungalow (mainly because it was the cheapest option!), I would recommend one of the mobiles up the hill as they had fabulous views and lots of privacy. Overall, a great holiday and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this campsite - definitely one of the best out of the many we have visited in the last 6 years or so.

A little haven
A little haven
We've just returned from 12 nights in the XXL tent. The site is located in the trees on the (very steep) hillside. It's quite shady so you don't come back to a boiling tent at the end of the day, and has some amazing views especially at sunset. The three pool areas cater to every age child, with plenty of loungers. The restaurant food is good and reasonably priced and the staff were friendly. The disco shake in the evenings was great for kids, and generally the entertainment staff/kids club were very committed and visible. I expect they really come into their own in high season. Supermarket wasn't extortionate either and stocked most things. We love a safari tent and this was the biggest yet, loads of room inside and out. The only thing I would point out is that there is one bathroom situated between the two double rooms behind the kitchen. You can only access it from each bedroom which is tricky for the people upstairs in the middle of the night. Overall a lovely trip. Would definitely return.

A lovely campsite
A lovely campsite
This is a lovely campsite in the Tuscan hills a few km from the coast. Very shady and lots of lovely pine trees and pretty flowers add to the beauty. We stayed in the Glenya tent booked through the campsite website ... very well equipped and comfortable to stay in. We were very close to the pool and not a steep hike to our accommodation but if you are further up the hill it is very steep. The only thing to say about our location was that it was very close to the stage where they had nightly entertainment. Not a problem for us as we have kids and they enjoyed the shows and it was normally over by 1015pm so didn't disrupt us too much but not the place to be on the campsite if you want a peaceful evening listening only to the wildlife. Other points ... - The pool was busy but it was peak season, end of July. However if you got to the pool at 10am when it opens you can nab a sunlounger - The bathrooms were VERY well looked after and always clean. - Mostly Dutch people. Hardly saw any Brits. - Surprising to me that there weren't many flies, mosquitos etc .. although we did get a few bites but not many. - The shop is very well equipped and reasonable. Fresh croissants from the bakery in the morning - As is said, the coast isn't far away although not a great beach for swimming. Better beaches further away. Would definitely recommend!
