Do you remember when was the first time you climbed a tree? And when was the last time you saw the sky so close behind branches and green leaves? At Le Pianacce Camp, children play in tree houses.
Here, at sunset a light breeze stirs the tops of trees. All around, the stillness is broken only by the chirping of cicadas and birds singing.
Down the lane there is Le Pianacce Camp, behind it, the village of Castagneto Carducci overlooking it like a silent giant. Once you cross the threshold of this place, the winter will seem a distant memory.
We stayed for a week in August through Eurocamp with our 6 year old son and would definitely return. The campsite is well looked after with a great pool area and fantastic terrace restaurant / takeaway pizzeria. The onsite shop was well stocked, we didn't bother going further afield for food and drink. As it is a tiered site on a hill in woodland it feels very natural and peaceful, with shade from the trees and a nice breeze off the coast.
The free shuttle bus to the beach was a bonus but if you have a car then you have easy access to lots of beaches along the coast. Baratti Beach was great.
Also went to Aqua Village Cecina for a half day. Not the best waterpark we've been to but we enjoyed it. It is cheaper after 2:30pm and we thought 4hrs was plenty of time to do everything there.
One of the things we enjoyed the most was taking an evening walk up the hill from the site to the little village of Castagneto Carducci - about 15mins. Lots of lovely little bars, restaurants, gelaterias and shops and stunning views from the top. Pitch black on return but really not a problem with a torch, our son thought it was an adventure and we got an amazing view of the stars.
Would definitely recommend staying here!
